What got lost re. Amazon‘s 4Q22 earnings: the 18K layoffs were focused on stores and on *devices* – meaning the #Echo division, which, according to The Economist, lost $2B annually.
This could mean that voice-based assistants (#VBA) are slower in coming and/or don’t have a clear business case.
Short term, we can perhaps slow down efforts to advertise/do marketing on VBAs.
Longer term, I’m still long on VBAs and augmented reality (#AR), and short on virtual reality (#VR).
